Abstract Name : Aisyaranur Student No. : 11061020200001 Study Program : English Education Title :Strategies in Teaching Vocabulary to Young Learners (A Descriptive Study in Kiddos English School) Key Word : Strategies, Teaching Vocabulary, Young Learners Teaching vocabulary is one of the efforts to increase knowledge and to give a certain interest on young learner‟s vocabulary development. There are many kinds of strategies to teach vocabulary to young learners, such as the use of song, the use of picture, playing games, coloring, and storytelling. This qualitative study was to describe the strategies used in teaching English vocabulary at Kiddos English School. An observation sheet and a set of interview questions were used to collect data from the English teachers. The result of the classroom observation and the interview with the teachers using audio recording showed that there are many strategies used by the teachers in teaching vocabulary for young learners at Kiddos English School. However, the researcher found that there are three strategies used as daily classroom activity, they are the use of song, using picture and play game. In applying the strategies to young learners, the teachers need to know the characteristics of young learners.
