Abstract Name : Isna Wandasari Student No. : 0906102050087 Study Program : English Education Title : The Application of Think-Pair-Square in Improving Students’ Reading Skill (An Experimental Study at SMPN 1 Banda Aceh) This study aims at examining whether the use of Think-Pair-Square technique can improve students’ reading ability in understanding narrative text. Quantitative approach with experimental study of pretest-postest control group design was undertaken to overcome the problems faced by students in learning reading skill. The instrument used to collect the data in this study by means of the test in the form of multiple choice test. The collected data were analyzed by using some statisctical formula were also used to analyze the data. From the results of the study it is revealed that there is a significant improvement on students’ reading ability after Think-Pair-Square technique implemented. Thus, this technique can be used by the English teacher as one of alternative techniques in teaching English particularly teaching reading in EFL class.
