Abstract Name : Elfi Suryani Student No : 0906102020004 Study Program : English Language Education Title : Applying Mind Mapping Strategy to Teach Reading Comprehension (An Experimental Study at SMP 1 Kuta Baro) The objective of this research was to find out whether or not there was a significant difference in reading comprehension achievement of students who were taught by using Mind Mapping strategy. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Kuta Baro. The sample was the students of class VIII1. The research used one group pre-test post-test design. In collecting data, the researcher administered pre-test, treatments, and post-test. The mean score of pre-test was 50 and the post-test was 80.58. It can be found that the improving of the mean was 30.58 point. Furthermore, result of calculation of t-test was 13.06, while the critical value of 0.05 significant levels was 2.12. Because the obtained of t-test (13.06) was higher than the t-score measurement table (2.12). It can be concluded that the result was significant and the hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. In short, applying Mind Mapping strategy can improve the students’ reading comprehension particularly at the second year students of SMPN 1 Kuta Baro.
