IDENTIFIKASI CACING PARASIT GASTROINTESTINAL PADA KUDA TUNGGANG DI KABUPATEN KARO ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi jenis cacing parasit gastrointestinal yang menginfestasi kuda tunggang di Kabupaten Karo. Cacing parasit gastrointestinal merupakan salah satu penyebab terjadinya kekurusan, diare, kolik, anemia dan bahkan kematian pada kuda. Masalah yang ditimbulkan oleh cacing parasit tersebut dapat menghalangi aktivitas masyarakat di Kabupaten Karo yang menggunakan kuda tunggang dalam berbagai kegiatan termasuk sebagai sumber mata pencaharian. Informasi mengenai cacing parasit gastrointestinal pada kuda tunggang di Kabupaten Karo sampai saat ini belum ada dipublikasikan. Sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah 100 sampel feses kuda tunggang yang diambil secara acak. Sampel feses diambil sesaat setelah keluar dari rektum dan jatuh ke tanah, kemudian dimasukkan ke dalam plastik ziploc. Sampel feses dibawa menggunakan icebox yang di dalamnya berisi ice packs ke Fakultas Kedokteran Hewan Universitas Syiah Kuala untuk diperiksa dengan menggunakan metode apung, McMaster dan sedimentasi. Identifikasi telur dilakukan berdasarkan morfologinya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kuda tunggang di Kabupaten Karo terinfestasi oleh cacing Strongylus spp., Trichostrongylus sp., Parascaris equorum, Oxyuris equi dan Strongyloides sp. Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa kuda tunggang di Kabupaten Karo terinfestasi oleh 5 jenis cacing golongan Nematoda yang berbeda. Kata kunci: cacing parasit gatrointestinal, kuda tunggang, kabupaten karo IDENTIFICATION OF GASTROINTESTINAL WORM PARASITE IN RIDING HORSE IN KARO REGENCY ABSTRACT This study aimed to identify gastrointestinal worm parasite that infesting horse riding in Karo Regency. Gastrointestinal worm parasite is one of the causes of emaciation, diarrhea, colic, anemia and even death in horses. These problems can prevent the activities of people in Karo Regency that using riding horse in various activities including as a source of livelihood. Information on gastrointestinal worm parasite in horse riding in Karo Regency has not yet been published. The samples used in this study were 100 horse’s fecal which were taken randomly. The fecal samples were taken shortly after it’s coming out of the rectum and falling to the ground then put into ziploc plastic. The samples were transported using ice boxes filled with ice packs to the Laboratory of Parasitology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Syiah Kuala University for examination using flotation, McMaster and sedimentation methods. Identification of the egg based on its morphology. The results of this study indicate that there are Strongylus spp., Trichostrongylus sp., Parascaris equorum, Oxyuris equi and Strongyloides sp. that infesting the horse riding in Karo Regency.
