ABSTRAK Nama : Izzatul Jannah Program Studi : Pendidikan Dokter Gigi Fakultas : Kedokteran Gigi Judul : Efek Antibakteri Ekstrak Daun Jeruk Purut (Citrus hystrix) Terhadap Pertumbuhan Lactobacillus acidophilus Karies pada gigi dapat terjadi karena adanya interaksi antara mikroorganisme dan makanan pada permukaan gigi. Salah satu mikroorganisme yang dapat menyebabkan karies yaitu Lactobacillus acidophilus. Kontrol plak dengan berkumur dan menyikat gigi dapat dilakukan sebagai salah satu upaya pencegahan terjadinya karies. Daun jeruk purut merupakan salah satu tanaman yang dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif bahan obat kumur karena memiliki efek antibakteri dan mengandung alkaloid, saponin, steroid, flavonoid, dan polifenol. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efek antibakteri daun jeruk purut (Citrus hystrix) terhadap pertumbuhan Lactobacillus acidophilus. Jenis penelitian ini adalah eksperimental laboratoris dengan menggunakan metode dilusi pada media MHA dengan konsentrasi ekstrak daun jeruk purut yang diuji yaitu 6,25%, 12,5%, 25%, 50%, dan 100%. Analisis statistik menggunakan uji Kruskal-Wallis. Hasil uji statistik didapatkan nilai p>0,05 yang menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat perbedaan yang bermakna antara ekstrak daun jeruk purut dengan pertumbuhan Lactobacillus acidophilus. Kesimpulan penelitian ini yaitu Ekstrak daun jeruk purut (Citrus hystrix) tidak memiliki efek antibakteri terhadap pertumbuhan Lactobacillus acidophilus dan Konsentrasi Hambat Minimum (KHM) dari ekstrak daun jeruk purut adalah 6,25% sedangkan Konsentrasi Bunuh Minimum (KBM) belum dapat ditentukan. One of the microorganisms that can cause caries is Lactobacillus acidophilus. Control of plaque by rinsing and brushing teeth can be done as an effort to prevent caries. Kaffir lime leaves are one of the plants that can be used as an alternative mouthwash because it has an antibacterial effect and contains alkaloids, saponins, steroids, flavonoids, and polyphenols. The purpose of this study was to determine the antibacterial effect of kaffir lime leaves (Citrus hystrix) on the growth of Lactobacillus acidophilus. This type of research was laboratory experimental using the dilution method on MHA media with the concentration of kaffir lime leaf extract tested which was 6.25%, 12.5%, 25%, 50%, and 100%. Statistical analysis using the Kruskal-Wallis test. The results of statistical tests obtained a value of p> 0.05 indicating that there was no significant difference between the extract of kaffir lime leaves and the growth of Lactobacillus acidophilus. The conclusion of this study are kaffir lime extract (Citrus hystrix) does not have an antibacterial effect on the growth of Lactobacillus acidophilus and the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) of kaffir lime leaf extract is 6.25% while the Minimum Bactericidal Concentration (MBC) cannot be determined.
