ABSTRACT One of the indicators that determine the level of public health is the infant mortality rate. UNICEF shows that infant and toddler deaths could be prevented through breastfeeding habit (breast milk), exclusively for six months after birth. The descriptive research in a cross-sectional survey method has been doing to describe the pattern of exclusive breastfeeding in the Work Area of Primary Health Center at Kuta Alam, Banda Aceh. The research carried out in August 2013. The purpose of this study is to describe exclusive breastfeeding based on education, knowledge, and mother's occupation. The results of the study on 50 respondents serve that the mother who exclusively breastfed as many as 40 respondents (80 %), highly educated mothers tend to give exclusive breastfeeding by 14 respondents (100 %), knowledgeable mothers tend to give exclusive breastfeeding by 32respondents (91 %), and mothers who worked consist of 15respondents (83 %) have a tendency similar to that does not work by 25respondents (78 %). The conclusion of this study is exclusive breastfeeding habit by mothers who visited Primary Health Center at Kuta Alam Banda Aceh are likely influenced by education, knowledge, and they have no relationship between mother’s employment with exclusive breastfeeding. Recommendation: To increase exclusive breastfeeding habit, we needs to improve education and knowledge. Keywords : Exclusive breastfeeding, education, knowledge, work. ABSTRAK Salah satu indikator yang menentukan derajat kesehatan masyarakat adalah angka kematian bayi. UNICEF menyatakan, kematian bayi dan Balita bisa dicegah melalui pemberian ASI (Air Susu Ibu) secara eksklusif selama enam bulan sejak kelahiran. Telah dilakukan penelitian deskriptif dengan metode cross sectional survey mengenai gambaran pemberian ASI eksklusif di Posyandu Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Kuta Alam Kota Banda Aceh. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada Agustus 2013. Tujuan Penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui gambaran pemberian ASI eksklusif di Posyandu berdasarkan pendidikan, pengetahuan, dan pekerjaan ibu. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian pada 50 responden, diperoleh gambaran ibu yang memberikan ASI eksklusif yaitu sebanyak 40 responden (80%), Ibu yang berpendidikan tinggi memberikan ASI eksklusif sebanyak 14 responden (100%), Ibu yang berpengetahuan baik memberikan ASI ekslusif sebanyak 32 (91%), Ibu yang bekerja mempunyai kecenderungan yang hampir sama dengan yang tidak bekerja dalam pemberian ASI ekslusif. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah Pemberian ASI eksklusif oleh ibu yang mengunjungi Posyandu Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Kuta Alam Kota Banda Aceh cenderung dipengaruhi oleh pendidikan dan pengetahuan. Tidak terlihat kecenderungan hubungan antara pekerjaan ibu dengan pemberian ASI ekslusif. Pemberian ASI ekslusif dapat digiatkan dengan upaya meningkatkan Pendidikandan Pengetahuan ibu tentang ASI eksklusif. Kata Kunci : Pemberian ASI eksklusif pendidikan, pengetahuan, pekerjaan.
