Keywords: Teacher’s teaching strategy, teacher’s personal competence, school’s facility The objectives of this descriptive study were to find out alumni’s perceptions toward the teaching strategies and personal competences of English teachers who taught at grade II and III at senior high school. This study was also aimed to investigate the availability of schools’ facilities at SMAN. 1 Labuhanhaji, SMAN. 1 Tapak Tuan, and SMAN 1 Trumon based on students’ perception. The study was conducted online by constructing questionnaire on Google Forms and sending the link of the questionnaire to alumni graduated from these three state senior high schools. The study used the quantitative method with the survey design. The questionnaire was used as the instrument to get the data needed. The population of this survey was all students graduated in 2015 from SMAN. 1 Labuhanhaji, SMAN. 1 Tapak Tuan, and SMAN. 1 Trumon and continue their study at some universities and academies in Aceh and North Sumatera. These schools were chosen to represent all schools in South Aceh since SMA 1 Tapak Tuan is located in the capital city, and both SMAN. 1 Labuhanhaji and Trumon are in countryside. Therefore, the samples for this study were each fifteen alumni chosen from these three state schools. They were randomly taken to represent the perceptions of all alumni from each school. The collected data were analysed through a quantitative procedure by using a statistical formula to find the percentage of each statement. The research finding showed that first, the teaching strategies suggested to be used by a teacher in his teaching process to catch students’ interests to learn the target language and to achieve curriculum expectation were not thoroughly applied yet. In term of teachers’ personal competences, the finding of this research showed that not all English teachers from SMAN. 1 Labuhanhaji, Tapak Tuan, and Trumon had a complete set of personalities required to be regarded as an effective English teacher. Last, it was also found that most facilities needed to support English teaching and learning process from these three state senior high schools were still insufficient.
