Abstract Name : Fajrinur Student No. : 1409200080001 Department/ Program : English Education/Graduate [S2] Title : The Influence of English Teachers’ Beliefs on Their Teaching Profession. Keywords: influence, teachers, teachers’ beliefs, and teaching profession. Since teaching is a profession that is influenced by individual belief, so a teacher’s belief toward his/her own profession can affect the teaching performance. The aim of this study is to explain the influence of the English teachers’ beliefs toward their teaching profession in Bireuen District. This is a quantitative study which involved thirty English teachers as the respondents. These teachers teach at six high schools in Bireuen. The schools were randomly chosen out of nineteen high schools in Bireuen. The data collection was done using two questionnaires and the collected data were analyzed through a quantitative procedure by using a statistical formula to find out the percentage of each statement. It can be concluded from the answer that in general the teachers agree on the nine statements states in the first questionnaire, means that they have positive beliefs toward several things mentioned, they satisfied with their job, they feel confidence about their job, it can also be seen from the answers that most teachers received appraisal and feedback from other teachers and most of the teachers believe that appraisal and feedback can increase teaching passion. To answer the research question, the participants state that the beliefs about overall job-related principles, job satisfaction, and self-efficacy and appraisal and feedback give big influence toward their teaching profession as English teachers. This big influence is affecting teachers is various way. Beliefs appear to have the strongest impact on teacher learning, followed by changes in teacher behavior and last on students learning. Karena pengajaran adalah profesi yang dipengaruhi oleh kepercayaan individu, maka kepercayaan guru terhadap profesinya sendiri dapat mempengaruhi kinerja mengajar. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menjelaskan pengaruh kepercayaan guru bahasa Inggris terhadap profesi mengajar mereka di Kabupaten Bireuen. Ini adalah studi kuantitatif yang melibatkan tiga puluh guru bahasa Inggris sebagai responden. Guru-guru ini mengajar di enam sekolah menengah atas di Bireuen. Sekolah-sekolah tersebut dipilih secara acak dari sembilan belas sekolah menengah di Bireuen. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan dua kuesioner dan data yang terkumpul dianalisis melalui prosedur kuantitatif dengan menggunakan rumus statistik untuk mengetahui persentase setiap pernyataan. Dapat disimpulkan dari jawaban para responden bahwa pada umumnya para guru menyepakati sembilan pernyataan yang dinyatakan dalam kuesioner pertama, berarti mereka memiliki kepercayaan positif terhadap beberapa hal yang disebutkan, mereka puas dengan pekerjaan mereka, mereka merasa percaya diri dengan pekerjaan mereka, hal itu juga dapat dilihat dari jawaban bahwa sebagian besar guru menerima penilaian dan umpan balik dari guru lain dan sebagian besar guru percaya bahwa penilaian dan umpan balik dapat meningkatkan gairah mengajar. Untuk menjawab pertanyaan penelitian, para peserta menyatakan bahwa kepercayaan tentang prinsip kerja, prinsip kepuasan kerja, dan self-efficacy dan penilaian dan umpan balik memberikan pengaruh besar terhadap profesi mengajar mereka sebagai guru bahasa Inggris. Pengaruh besar ini mempengaruhi guru adalah berbagai cara. Keyakinan tampak memiliki dampak paling kuat pada pembelajaran guru, diikuti oleh perubahan perilaku guru dan terakhir pada pembelajaran siswa.
