ABSTRACT Name Sitti Jamilah Student No. : 1209200080002 Department/Program : English Education/Postgraduate Title An Evaluation of English Textbook “Aim High 3” (A Qualitative Research at SMA Teuku Nyak Arif Fatih Bilingual School) Keywords: textbook analysis, ELT materials, content analysis, Curriculum 2013, presentation of English skills. This research focused on analyzing content materials found in Aim High 3 textbook which is used by grade 11 students at SMA Teuku Nyak Arif Fatih Bilingual School. The objectives of this study were to specify two problems, first, the textbook compatibility with Curriculum 2013, and second, to see how well the presentation of the English skills was. The method used in this research was qualitative in nature. The instruments used to collect the data were documentations of textbook (Aim High 3), national English syllabus of senior high school grade 11, and a textbook evaluation checklist adapted from Demir and Ertas (2014). The data collected were analyzed by using descriptive qualitative based on Miles, Huberman, and Saldana steps. Analysis of the finding shows that the Aim High 3 textbook is compatible to Curriculum 2013. It is considered compatible since there were 9 out of 12 content materials demanded by the national English syllabus of senior high school grade 11 covered in the textbook. In addition, all four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing are presented excellently. Therefore, from the point of view of skills presentation, the Aim High 3 textbook is a good source for EFL language learners.
