ANALYSIS OF COMPETITIVENESS AND VALUE ADDED COCOA FARMING AS MAINSTAY MAINSTAY COMMODITY MAINSTAY PIDIE JAYA REGION Maimun Agribusiness Master’s Program of Universitas Syiah Kuala ABSTRACT Cocoa is one of the mainstay commodities of plantation whose role is quite important for the national economy, especially as a provider of employment, sources of income, and foreign exchange. This study aims to determine the level of competitiveness and competitive competitiveness of cocoa commodities Pidie Jaya mainstay, know the value added commodity mainstay Pidie Jaya Regency and know the Government Policy for the development of cocoa as a mainstay commodity Pidie Jaya District. This research was conducted in Pidie Jaya District, Aceh Province. This research method using survey method. Analysis conducted in this research is qualitative and quantitative analysis. Quantitative analysis is done to obtain dagta on Competitiveness, Value Added cocoa farming. While the qualitative-descriptive analysis to get an overview of Government Policy Direction conducted in Pidie Jaya District covering policies, programs, infrastructure and partnerships supporting organizations. The results of this study indicate that the commodity Andalan Pidie Jaya District has the competitiveness of comparative and competitive advantage, this can be seen from the results of the value of cocoa PCR in Kabuapten Pidie Jaya is 0.23. Based on the value of the PCR, cocoa commodity system in Pidie Jaya Regency can be said to have a competitive advantage. In addition, it can be interpreted also that the cocoa commodity production system in Pidie Jaya Regency can pay for domestic factors. The value added results indicate that the cocoa powder production yield is 1,350 kilograms. The added value obtained by socolatte processing is Rp. 34.159 per kilogram with an added value ratio of 32.5 percent. This added value is a gross added value for the processor, because it has not been deducted for the workforce. Cocoa Farming has added value as the mainstay commodity of Pidie Jaya Regency, it can be seen from the value of the product produced from dried cocoa beans that produce value added cocolatte agro-industry cocoa powder product. Government policy is very influential and profitable for farming in order to develop and improve cocoa competitiveness in Pidie Jaya regency.
