It was conducted from October 15, 2015 up to November 19, 2015. The population of this study was the second grade students of State Senior High School 4 (SMAN 4) Banda Aceh, and from this population, two classes were selected as the sample. This research employed the true experimental research with two groups design, experimental and control groups. The experimental group was taught by using authentic video, while the control group by using audio Compact Disc (CD) as the teaching aid often used by the teacher in teaching listening. In collecting the data, the writer used test as the instrument, and in analyzing the data collected, the computer software of Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS) was employed. The research finding reveals that the mean score of the post-test of the experimental group, 74,94, is higher than that of the control group, 63.50. Moreover, the scores obtained in this research were analyzed through t-test in order to discover the level of the improvement. It unearths t-test score in experimental group is higher than that in the control group (11.512>4.064). It means that there is a significant difference in students’ listening achievement between the experimental and the control groups. The students taught by using authentic video achieved better result in listening than those taught by audio compact disc (CD). As a result, the alternative hypothesis is accepted and null hypothesis is rejected. In terms of the development among the listening sub-skills, it was found that listening for specific information was the most enhanced sub skills. It shows that the students were able to grasp information better after being taught by using authentic video.
