ABSTRAK Trend pengusaha menduduki jabatan-jabatan strategis dalam partai politik tidak hanya pada tingkat nasional saja, tetapi sudah merambah ke daerah-daerah. Salah satu daerah tersebut adalah Aceh Barat. Trend ini juga didorong oleh pelaksanaan Undang-Undang Otonomi Daerah Nomor 22 Tahun 1999 yang memberi ruang yang luas bagi hubungan timbal balik antara kepentingan pengusaha dan penguasa di daerah. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui latar belakang H.T. Alaidinsyah mencalonkan diri sebagai calon Bupati Aceh Barat pada pemilukada tahun 2012, untuk mengetahui apa faktor sehingga H. Tito bisa terpilih sebagai Bupati Aceh Barat periode 2012 – 2017, untuk mengetahui kinerja H. Tito pada saat menjabat menjadi bupati di Aceh Barat dari tahun 2012 sampai saat ini, untuk mengetahui apakah ada politik uang dalam proses pemenangan H. Tito pada saat masa kampanye Pemilukada Aceh Barat periode 2012-2017. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang dilakukan adalah dengan cara penyusunan data, kategorisasi, dan penafsiran data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa faktor yang mempengaruhi terpilihnya H. Tito sebagai Bupati Aceh Barat dikarenakan sifat kemasyarakatan yang dimiliki beliau sehingga menimbulkan antusias dan dukungan masyarakat yang hadir dalam pemilukada. Dalam masa kampanyenya sebelum menjadi Bupati Aceh Barat, H. Tito tidak terlibat dalam politik uang baik dalam bentuk barang maupun uang. Kinerja H. Tito selama menjabat sebagai Bupati Aceh Barat dinilai sangat baik. Tak hanya gemar berorganisasi H. Tito juga aktif dalam berbagai kegiatan sosial keagamaan yang menyentuh langsung kemasyarakat. Kesimpulan menunjukkan bahwa alasan pengusaha terjun ke dunia politik diantaranya, pertama menjadi wakil rakyat dalam hal ini adalah hak bagi setiap warga negara, apa pun latar belakangnya. Kedua, tujuannya terjun di dunia politik adalah sebagai bentuk kontribusi kepada masyarakat. This trend is also driven by the implementation of the Local Autonomy Law No. 22 of 1999 which provides ample room for a reciprocal relationship between the interests of employers and authorities in the region. The purpose of this study was to determine the background H. T. Alaidinsyah ran as Regent of Aceh Barat in the election in 2012, to find out what are the factors that H. Tito could be elected as Regent of Aceh Barat period 2012-2017, to determine the performance H. Tito at the time served as regent in Aceh Barat from 2012 to this time, to determine whether there is political money in the process winning the H. Tito during the Regional General Election campaign period Aceh Barat 2012-2017 period. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The data collection technique is by way of preparation of the data, categorization and interpretation of data. The results showed that the factors affecting the election of H. Tito as the Regent of West Aceh due to the nature of community owned him, causing enthusiasm and community support are present in the Regional General Election. During the campaign before it became Regent of West Aceh, H. Tito was not involved in money politics in the form of goods or money. H. Tito's performance during his tenure as Regent of Aceh Barat is considered very good. Not only likes to organize H. Tito also active in various social and religious activities that touch directly to the public. The conclusion showed that the reason employers turning to politics among others, firstly be representative of the people in this case is the right of every citizen, whatever their background.
