Abstract Name : Yulida Herdayani Student No. : 1006102020010 Study Program : English Education Title : Improving Students’ English Vocabulary by Using Picture Word Inductive Model (PWIM) (An Experimental study at second grade students of SMPN 2 Bubon, Aceh Barat) Key words: Vocabulary, Picture Word Inductive Model. This study aims at examining whether or not the use of Picture Word Inductive Model (PWIM) strategy improves students’ English vocabulary. In order to cope with the problems faced by students in learning vocabulary, pre-experimental study of one group pretest-posttest design employed by using random sampling. To collect the data in this study, the researcher administrated vocabulary test in the form of fill in the blank and jumble words to elicit the data related to students’ vocabulary ability. The collected data were analyzed by using descriptive statistic to depict the attained data and inferential statistic to prove the research hypothesis. From the result of data analysis reveals that the mean score of posttest is higher than the mean score of pretest (85.9> 46.6) as well as the value of t-test is higher than t-value (14.07 > 1.753). It explicitly means that the implementation of Picture Word Inductive Model (PWIM) strategy has improved students’ vocabulary.
