Prevalensi diabetes mellitus tipe 2 terus meningkat di seluruh bagian dunia, khususnya di negara-negara berkembang. Menurut WHO, menjelang tahun 2025 akan terdapat 84-224 juta pasien diabetes di negara berkembang, angka diabetes yang tertinggi terdapat di India sebanyak 57 juta jiwa. Peningkatan angka tersebut dapat disebabkan oleh ketidakpatuhan seseorang terhadap pemulihan dan kosumsi obat yang tepat. Kepatuhan merupakan aspek yang sangat penting khususnya untuk terapi jangka panjang seperti DM, karena kepatuhan terhadap terapi pengobatan akan berdampak positif terhadap kualitas hidup pasien. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubugan pengetahuan dengan kepatuhan penggunaan terapi insulin pada pasien diebetes mellitus tipe 2 di wilayah kerja puskesmas Krueng Barona Jaya Aceh Besar. Jenis penelitian adalah deskriptif ekspploratif Dengan desain penelitian cross sectional study, melalui metode pengambilan sampel Total Sampling dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 45 pasien diabetes mellitus tipe 2. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan membagi kuisioner yang terdiri dari 16 item pernyataan dalam skala dichotomous. Metode analisis data menggunakan uji deskriptif, dengan tingkat pengetahuan pasien DM tipe II mengenai terapi insulin menunjukkan 25 responden (55.6%) berada dalam kategori patuh. Hasil penelitian adalah terdapat hubungan antara pengetahuan dengan kepatuhan menjalani terapi insulin pada pasien DM tipe II diwilayah kerja Puskesmas Krueng Barona Jaya Aceh Besar. Prevalence of diabetes mellitus type 2 rises in the whole part of the world, especially in developing countries. According to World Health Organization, by 2025 there will be 84-224 million of patient with diabetes in developing countries, which the highest prevalence is in India i.e 57 million people with diabetes. The rising rate can be caused by people noncompliance for recovery and proper medicine consumption. Compliance is a crucial aspect especially for long term therapy for instance diabetes melitus because compliance for medication will have positive effect of quality life of the patient. The aim of the research is to identify correlation between knowledge with compliance of insulin therapy application for patient with diabetes mellitus type 2 in puskesmas (subdistrict public health center) Krueng Barona Jaya-Great Aceh. The research design is correlative descriptive by using cross sectional study by using total sampling method i.e 45 patients with diabetes mellitus type 2. Data collection was conducted by distributing questionnaire consisting 16 statements in dichotomous scale. Data analysis method used descriptive test with level of knowledge of patient with diabetes mellitus type 2 regards insulin therapy showed 25 respondents (55,6%) was in compliant category. The result of the research showed the correlation between knowledge with compliance of insulin therapy application for patient with diabetes mellitus type 2 in puskesmas (subdistrict public health center) Krueng Barona Jaya-Great Aceh.
