ABSTRACT Name : Muhammad Reza Maulana Nasution Program Study : Dentistry Faculty : Denstistry Title : The Factors Associated with the Patient Motivation in Visiting Rumah Sakit Gigi dan Mulut (RSGM) Universitas Syiah Kuala Motivation is a state in which one's personal desire that encourage individuals to undertake certain activities in order to achieve goals. Each patient who visited RSGM had different level of motivation. There were several factors related to the person's level of motivation which were socio-economic factors, service facilities, accessibility, and young dentists’ supports. The purpose of this study was to understand the factors related to the patient's motivation to visit RSGM Unsyiah Banda Aceh. This research is a descriptive correlational study which uses cross sectional design. This study involved 96 patients who met the inclusion criteria. Research subjects were interviewed by a questionnaire. Data were analyzed by a chi square test. The results showed that the factors significantly related to the motivation of the patient in visiting RSGM Unsyiah were service facilities (p = 0,000) and young dentists’ supports (p = 0,004). Socio-economic factors (p = 0,275) and accessibility (p = 0,469) were not shown to be associated with patient motivation. Based on the results of this study, it was concluded that the motivation of the patient to visit to RSGM Unsyiah were influenced by service facilities and young dentists’ supports. We wish that all of the young dentist and the staffs of RSGM Unsyiah to keep improving the quality of oral health care so that the motivation of people to visit RSGM Unsyiah will be increased in the future. Pasien yang berkunjung ke RSGM Unsyiah memiliki tingkat motivasi yang berbeda-beda. Terdapat beberapa faktor yang berhubungan dengan tingkat motivasi seseorang yaitu faktor sosial ekonomi, fasilitas pelayanan,aksesibilitas, serta dukungan dokter gigi muda. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk rmngetahui faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan motivasi pasien berkunjung ke RSGM Unsyiah Banda Aceh. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif korelatif dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Penelitian ini melibatkan 96 pasien yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi. Subjek penelitian diwawancarai berdasarkan kuesioner penelitian. Data dianalisis dengan uji chi square. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa faktor yang berhubungan secara signifikan dengan motivasi pasien dalam berkunjung ke RSGM Unsyiah adalah fasilitas pelayanan (p = 0,000) serta dukungan dokter gigi muda (p = 0,004). Faktor sosial ekonomi (p = 0,275) dan aksesibilitas (p = 0,469) tidak terbukti berhubungan dengan motivasi pasien. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa motivasi pasien dalam berkunjung ke RSGM Unsyiah dipengaruhi oleh fasilitas pelayanan serta dukungan dokter gigi muda. Diharapkan kepada RSGM Unsyiah serta dokter gigi muda untuk terus meningkatkan kualitas pelayanan kesehatan gigi dan mulut sehingga motivasi masyarakat untuk berkunjung ke RSGM Unsyiah semakin meningkat.
