Abstract Name : Fittri Amriani Student No. : 0906102050025 Study Program : English Education Title : Teaching Listening by Using Student Team Achievement Division (An Experimental Study of Second Grade Students at MAN 1 Sigli) Keywords: Listening, STAD, Narrative Text This script is about Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) technique. This study aims to find out whether teaching listening by using STAD improves students’ listening comprehension of senior high school or not. Therefore, this study used quantitative research in carrying out the research. This study only focuses on improving students’ listening comprehension in narrative text. The population of this study was second grade students at MAN 1 Sigli, while the sample of this study is XI-IA 2 class which is consisted of 22 students. The result of this study showed that students’ score increased, which were proven by their scores of pretest and posttest. The mean score of pretest was 38.18, and the mean score of posttest was 65.45. Moreover, the result of hypothesis testing indicated that alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. It is shown from the calculation of T-test, 12.12, which is bigger than T-table. Hence, STAD can improve students’ listening comprehension . Therefore, the writer concludes that teaching listening by using Student Team Achievement Division give good effect for students’ listening comprehension.
