Abstract Name : Nurhayati Students No. : 1106102110042 Study Program : English Education Title : The Application of Numbered Head Together Model for Improving The Students Reading in Understanding Descriptive Texts (A Classroom Action Research for Grade 8, SMPN 1 Meulaboh ) Keyword:... There are lot of students having difficulties in understanding a reading text in English, especially the descriptive text. Their problems are related to the lack of vocabulary mastery, grammar, and lack of motivation. Therefore, the researcher feels necessary to find a solution the problems, that is by applying Numbered Head Together model. This model of learning enables the students in understanding a descriptive text. The students learning by this model are demanded to work together and interact with each other in order to succeed their group members in completing their assigned tasks. The result of reseach showed that in cycle I from 26 students taking a test for reading descriptive text, 30% met the KKM. In the cycle II from 26 students taking the test of reading a descriptive text, 100% of the students fulfilled the KKM score.
