Abstract Name : Raudhah Nur Ahya Student No. : 0906102020015 Study Program : English Education Title : An Experimental Research on Improving Students’ Reading Comprehension by Implementing Reciprocal Teaching Keywords: Reading comprehension, reciprocal teaching This research is an experimental study, and it used one group pre test-post test design. It was conducted at MTsN 1 Banda Aceh. The purpose of this study was to improve students’ reading comprehension: finding main idea, understanding word meaning, getting detail information, understanding reference, and making inference by implementing reciprocal teaching strategy. From the result, it was found that mean of pre test and post test was different. The mean of pre test was 61.38 and the mean of post test was 84.72. Then, t-test was 14.22 and t-table was 2.0301. The significant level used in this research was 0.05. Because of the value of t-test was higher than t-table (14.22>2.0301), Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. Based on the results of this research, it can be concluded that teaching reading by implementing reciprocal teaching strategy can improve students’ reading comprehension. Indeed, it is recommended for teachers to apply this strategy in teaching English especially in reading activity.
