Abstract Name :Nurbaiti Student no :0806102020101 Study Program : English Education Title :Teaching Reading by Using Picture Story (An Experimental study at MTsS Lam Ujong) —————————————————————————————————— Reading skill is a thinking process in which it requires the reader to understand and to use different skills in gaining the information from the text such as infering meaning of word in a paragrah, answer the question correctly, previewing article how it is organized, and drawing conclusions from the story. However, many second year studenrs at MTsS Lam Ujong have difficulties in reading texts. It is assumed that the problems exists due to the use of inappropriate media in teaching learning process. The objective of this study is to find out how can picture story media improve the students` reading skill at MTsS Lam Ujong. To collect the data, this research used experimental research. The writer conducted this study at second year students of MTsS Lam Ujong. The data were collected by pretest and posttest. Then, the writer employed some statistical formulas that are mean score, standard deviation and T-Score. After calculating the data, this study showed that the value of T-test is 11.6 (significant 0.05) with (df) 27 are 1.703 for one tail test. The result showed that T-test is higher than T-table, and it means that the difference is significant and the hypothesis is accepted. It also indicates that Picture Story can improve students` reading skill of MTsS Lam Ujong. iii
