this study focused on analyzing the use of code switching by teachers in bilingual classes in terms of types and reasons. the objective of this study is to measure the frequency of code switching occurrences and the reasons of using them. the subjects of this study were 2 english teachers at bunga matahari international school, banda aceh. they teach grade 1 and grade 4. each teacher was observed and recorded for 2 meetings, so that there were 4 meetings altogether. then they were also interviewed to gather the more specific data. the data collection was done through
