one of the difficulties in learning english for senior high school students’ is reading
comprehension. to overcome these problems and to improve the students’ reading
comprehension, teachers can apply a creative strategy such as three minute pause
strategy. this study was to find out whether the use of three minute pause strategy
can improve students’ reading comprehension and whether there were significant
improvements in main idea, detail information and vocabulary after the strategy was
implemented. the sample of this one-group pre-test post-test study design was a
class in the first grade of sman 8 banda aceh. the test was a reading text in
