this study was conducted to investigate the effect of the use of cooperative integrated reading and composition (circ) in teaching writing to the second grade students of smp negeri 1 muara batu, north aceh. an experimental design was used in this study and the data were collected through a test as the instrument. the population of this study was all the second grade students of smp negeri 1 muara batu, north aceh, and two classes were taken as the samples for the experimental group consisting of 28 students and 30 students for control group. the finding of
