AbstrakThis study investigates the differences in reading comprehension between
students who are taught reading by using cooperative integrated reading and
writing techniques (circ) and those by means of grammar translation method;
this study also aims to find out the students? perceptions toward the circ
technique used in teaching reading comprehension for the third-semester
accounting students of smkn 3, lhokseumawe. this is an experimental study.
there were two classes selected as the research sample, namely the experimental
class and the control class. each class consisted of 22 students and the total
number of samples was 44 students. the research data were obtained through tests
(i.e. pre-test and post-test) and questionnaire. the data were analyzed using spss
17 to find the differences between the experimental class and the control class in
reading comprehension. the percentage formula was used to analyze students'
responses to the use of the circ technique in the
