ekanisme koping sedang dantidakditemukanlansiadenganmekanismekopingrendah. lansia dengan mekanismekoping tinggi cenderung mengalami stres ringan 71,4% dibandingkan lansia dengan mekanismekopingsedangyang 7,1%mengalami stres ringan, 64,3% lansiamengalami stres sedang, 21,4% mengalami stres berat dan 7,1% mengalami stres sangat berat. hasil uji statistik spearman menunjukkan terdapat hubungan signifikan antara stres terhadap mekanisme koping pada lansia di uptd rumoh seujahtra geunaseh sayang ulee kareng banda aceh denga p value 0,001 dan didapatkan koefisen korelasi (spearman’s rho) -0,649 yang berarti memiliki kekuatan korelasi kuat dengan arah korelasi negatif yang menunjukkan bahwa hubungan keduanya bersifat keterbalikan, yaitusemakin tinggi penggunaan mekanisme koping maka akan semakin menurunkan tingkat stres lansia di uptd rumoh seujahtera geunaseh sayang ulee kareng banda aceh. kesimpulan pada penelitian ini adalah terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara stres dengan mekanismekoping pada lansia di uptd rumoh seujahtera geunaseh sayang ulee kareng. kata kunci: stres, mekanisme koping, lansia abstract the way to do for stress management one of them by improving coping mechanisms, namely problem focused coping and emotions focused coping. the purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of stress on the coping mechanisms of the elderly in uptd rumohseujahtrageunasehsayanguleekareng banda aceh. type of analytical research with cross sectional design, sampling is done with purposive sampling technique involving 33 respondents. the instrument used in this study is the depression anxiety and stress scale (dass)-14 items to measure stress in the elderly and brief cope-26 items to measure coping mechanisms. results of analysis of data obtained 36,4% of normal elderly (no stress), 18,2% of elderly experiencing mild stress, 33,3% of elderly experiencing moderate stress, 9,1% of elderly experiencing severe stress and 3,0% of the elderly are stressed very heavy, while coping mechanisms available to 54,5% of elderly has a high coping mechanisms, 45,5% of elderly have the coping mechanism was and was not found elderly people with low coping mechanism. elderly with high coping mechanisms tend to be experienced mild stress (71,4%) than elderly people with coping mechanisms being that 7,1% had mild stress, 64,3% of elderly experiencing moderate stress, 21,4% experienced severe stress and 7,1 % experiencing severe stress. statistical test results spearman shows there is a significant relationship between stress on the coping mechanisms of the elderly in uptd rumohseujahtrageunasehsayanguleekareng banda aceh premises p value 0.001 and obtained the correlation coefficient (spearman's rho) -0.649 which mean strength strong correlation with the direction of the correlation negative, indicating that their relationship is reversibility, the higher use of coping mechanisms will further reduce the level of stress of the elderly in uptd rumohseujahterageunasehsayanguleekareng banda aceh. the conclusion of this research is a significant relationship between stress and coping mechanisms in the elderly in uptd rumohseujahterageunasehsayanguleekareng. keywords: stress, coping mechanisms,
