reading is one of important skills that must be mastered by learner in order to access all information written in english. being able to read and understand english is useful for learner because there are many books and literatures written in english. however, based on researcher’s experience during internship program, he found that grade eight students had less interested and seemed passive in reading. they usually learned individually when doing reading exercises, and they rarely discussed reading matters in groups. therefore, the writer experimentally implemented one of cooperative learning technique called stad toward those 18

Baca Juga : PROCEDURES OF STAD AS A TECHNIQUE IN TEACHING READING (Illa Rahmatin, 2016) , students of that grade eight students to solve the problem. from the result of the research (pretest and posttest result), it shows that there is an improvement in students understanding and their nature which is being more active and enthusiastic in learning. the improvement can be seen in the mean score of posttest which is higher than pretest (pretest = 65.3, posttest = 75). considering this satisfactory result, it can be concluded that stad as a part of cooperative learning successfully improve students’ reading comprehension at the grade 8 of fatih bilingual school male. hence, it is recommended for english teacher to apply the approach in the process of teaching since it gives satisfactory benefit for Pengarang tidak dapat memberikan Full Text secara langsung, untuk mendapatkan full text silahkan mengisi Form LSS di bawah.
