this research aims at finding out how three-step interview gives impact on students’ speaking ability. three-step interview technique is a technique of teaching speaking that can overcome speaking difficulties. for that reason, the writer conducted an experimental research and she took 20 students of the second grade of smpn 8 darussalam as sample. the result demonstrates that three-step interview technique is truly gives impact on students’ speaking ability. the impact revealed in the posttest score covering all speaking aspects displayed in the following details; grammar pre: 2.3, post: 2.85, vocabulary pre: 2.3 post: 2.85, pronunciation
