Abstrak

The potential of rhizobacteria isolated from red chili plant as a candidate as a biocontrol agents and their effects on growth and yield of eggplant (solanum melongena l.) under the supervision of syamsuddin as the chairman and syafruddin as the member. this study aims to study the inhibitory power of rhizobacteria on the growth of pathogen colonies carried by eggplant seeds in vitro, the work mechanism of rhizobacteria biocontrol agents and rhizobacteria that boost plant growth, the effect of pre-planting seed treatment using rhizobacteria on seedling growth and vegetative growth, and the yield of two eggplant varieties in the field (the role of pgpr). in addition to the influence of a single factor (varieties and rhizobacteria), it is also essential to know the effect of interactions between varieties and types of rhizobacteria on the growth and yield of eggplant in the field. the research was conducted at the seed science and technology laboratory, experimental garden of the

otechnology study program at the faculty of agriculture, syiah kuala university, banda aceh, and the biology laboratory, faculty of teacher training and education, syiah kuala university. the study took place from july 2018 to march 2019. a nonfactorial completely randomized design was used in the experiment to find out the inhibitory power of rhizobacteria on the growth of seed-borne pathogens in vitro with three repetitions. then, the percentage of rhizobacteria’s inhibitory power on the growth of seed-borne pathogens (f. oxysporum) was observed. the experiment on the effect of seed treatment with rhizobacteria on the growth of seedlings was conducted using a nonfactorial completely randomized design with three repetitions. seed growth variables were observed based on the seedling height, stem diameter, and number of leaves aged 10, 20, and 30 days after planting (dap). the experiment on the effect of seed treatment with rhizobacteria on the growth and yield of eggplant in the field was conducted using a factorial completely random design, namely torino and mustang f1 varieties and rhizobacteria. the experiment was repeated three times. variables observed were the height and diameter of plant stems aged 15, 20, 45 and 60 days after planting (dap), the number of fruit production per plant (4 harvests in total), fruit diameter, and fruit weight consumption per plant (4 harvests in total). from the results of physiological characterization of rhizobacteria isolates, it was found that there were six isolates which have a very high inhibitory ability (dh> 75%) to the growth of pathogen colonies of f. oxysporum, that is isolate of p. diminuta, b. bodius, b. laterophorus, b. laterophorus, b. larvae, and b. stearothermophillus rhizobacteria isolate. all rhizobacteria isolates produce iaa growth regulators, six isolates had phosphate-dissolving abilities, and six isolates produced hcn compounds. eggplants derived from a mustang f1 variety are superior to torino variety, both in plant growth and yield. eggplant seed treatment before planting using rhizobacteria isolates effectively increases the eggplant growth and yield. rhizobacteria isolates of p. capaca, p. diminuta, and b. larvae are the better isolates. there is a significant interaction between pre-planting seed treatment using rhizobacteria and eggplant varieties. mustang f1 variety is more responsive to seed treatment using rhizobacterial isolates. based on the number of fruit, torino variety requires seed treatment using p. capacia rhizobacteria isolate to increase the number of fruits per plant, while for the mustang f1 variety, azotobacter rhizobacteria isolate is more effective in increasing the number of fruits per plant. based on the diameter and weight of the fruit, all rhizobacterial isolates have effectively increased the diameter and weight of eggplant per plant, except for the a. suis rhizobacteria
