Abstrak

Abstract name : afla nadya student no : 1106102020009 study program : english language education title : improving reading comprehension by using skimming and scanning techniques (an experimental study on second grade students of sman 1 meulaboh) keyword: reading comprehension, skimming and scanning techniques this research is intended to find out whether skimming and scanning techniques improve students’ reading comprehension. this research was conducted at sman 1 meulaboh. the sample of the study consist of (32) students of class xi-mia 3 (science class). the framework undertaken is promoted by abdelrahman & bsharah, 2014. the researcher used one group pre-test and post-test design. the techniques of data collection were the researcher administered pre-test, treatment, and post-test, while in the technique of data analysis, the researcher used statistical formula. the mean score of pre-test was 45 and the post-test was 65. the finding showed
