The coral triangle region harbors the world’s most diverse marine ecosystem and are one of the biggest fish producing area in the world. the region, which area is covered by indonesia, malaysia, philippines, timor leste, papua new guinea and solomon island, is currently under combined and immediate threats from destructive fishing, bycatch, and climate change. it is suggested that the reefs will be even more vulnerable to threat in the future if the threats are not mitigated. the research aims to determine the current environmental policy used in the coral triangle to mitigate the threats, as well as examining the challenges in protecting coral reefs and activities in the coral triangle. the method used in the research is normative research method. data used in this research comes from primary sources such as statutes, laws, decisions, or regulations and secondary sources, which includes legal textbooks, papers and journals. both sources then combined with tertiary sources, such as
