Abstract name : rizka mulya phonna student no. : 1006102050010 study program : english education title : the speaking problems faced by secondary students and their efforts in solving the problems (a case study at mtsn kuta baro, aceh besar) keywords: speaking, problem, effort speaking is one of the four language skills learned by the students beside reading, writing, and listening. this study is intended to find out the problems faced by the students in learning speaking skill and the efforts made by them to solve their problems. this study was conducted at mtsn kuta baro, aceh besar. the subjects of this study were the second grade students of class viii-2. the object of this study was speaking. the study was employed qualitative research design with descriptive approach. the data were collected through interview as the main instrument. the result of this study showed that students faced problems in speaking. the problems that mostly faced by the students were “lack
